Fine Arts Report – December 2009

 

Choir – Mrs Sue Catanese , Director

·         The choir has been busy during the holiday season.

·         On  Friday, December 4th, the Freshman Choir performed at the Detroit Opera House in the matinee performance of the “The Nutcracker Suite” with the Cincinnati Ballet.  They sang the vocal portion of  Act 1 and sang Christmas Carols in the lobby during intermission.

·         The Varsity Choir performed with the Macomb Symphony Orchestra Sunday, December 6th at the MCC      Performing Arts Center

·         The Varsity and Concert Choirs were honored and privileged to perform with Detroit chamber Winds at their annual “Holiday Brass” concert yesterday at the Gross Pointe Memorial Church.

·         All of the Dakota choirs will be putting on their Holiday concert here at Dakota tomorrow, Tuesday, December 15th  at 7:00 pm in the auditorium.  Tickets available at the door - $4 for adults, $3 for students and seniors.

·         Rehearsals and preparations are underway for “Suessical –The Musical” , which will be performed January 28th, 29th, and 30th.

Band – Ms. Risa Hsu, Director

·         The band has been busy during the holidays.

·         For the second consecutive year, The Dakota Cougar Marching Band and Color Guard participated in the Annual Detroit Thanksgiving Day Parade.

·         All of the Dakota Bands performed this year’s Winter Concert last Thursday, December 10th and it was very well received.

·         This Wednesday, December 15th,     the winter Guard will be having a fundraiser at the Marble Slab Creamery at Partridge Creek.  “Celebrity servers will be on hand from 6-9  with a portion of the proceeds going to support the Dakota Winter Guard.

·         Preparations are underway  for the band all-night party January 15/16.

·         Band members in Suessical are continuing their preparations for the school play.
