Dakota Booster GENERAL MEMBERSHIP Meeting Minutes

March 10, 2008

Meeting called to order at 7:06 p.m.

Last month’s meeting minutes were approved by the board.

Treasurer’s Report:

Savings: $4,491.22

Checking: $24,680.36

Donations Pending: $12,453.87

Balance: $16,717.71

Administration Report:

• March Newsletter went out today.
• Basketball playoffs are underway
• MME starts on March 11^th
• Parent conferences are being held on 3/11 and 3/12
• Schedule material was distributed to students. 4-year plan begins, cannot plan 1 year at a time any longer. Schedules are due March 11^th.
• Kim Moss was appointed as the 9^th grade center Principle
• 9^th grade orientation and tour went well. Approx. 610 incoming students for 2008/2009 school year.
• Class of 2011 new Physical Education Requirements to fulfill graduation requirements. Mix and match sports participate in 2 seasons of MSHAA approved, waives the ½ credit of Physical Ed.
• Coffee with the Principal Meetings will be held on the following days:
• 8:00-9:00 am April 8^th
• 12:30-1:30 pm March 18^th and April 22^nd
• 7:00-8:00 pm April 1^st and May 6^th

Student Activities:

None

Service Report:

Science Olympiad was held on Feb. 23^rd and NHS is collecting cell phones for soldiers, turn in phones in room 209

Fine Arts:

Choir: The DHS Choirs look forward to a visit from the class of 2012 on March 3^rd. Grammy Award winning Choral Director, Dr. Jerry Blackstone from U of M, spent the day coaching the DHS Choirs in preparation for their upcoming festival season. The annual MSVMA District Choral Festival is scheduled for March 6^th.

Band: All three bands received 1^st division ratings at the band festival at Anchor Bay. Wind Ensemble received one across the board. Congratulations. First time in Dakota history that all three bands received 1^st.

Winterguard: March 9^th is the Winter Guard show at Chippewa. The March 15^th show will be held at West Bloomfield and on April 5^th is the MCGC State Championships at Saginaw Valley State University.

Sports Report:

Spring sports are starting. Boys basketball completed. Larry Tilney is the new sports trustee. Soccer and Track volunteers are needed. Girls Basketball banquet is March 11^th and Girls tennis tryouts started this week.

Craft Show: Scheduled for November 8^th. 19 applications have been received.

DHS Website:

Current with spring sports dates. Over 8,000 visits currently to the Booster’s website. Seeking volunteer to take over the website.

Donation Requests:

The following donations were received:

1) Dakota Administration requested $5,000 for ten $500 academic scholarships. Approved.

2) DHS Tech Crew requested $689 to purchase a digital camera for use in the auditorium. Approved
